19 January Futurre Hospitals Conference in Islamabad, visit to Faislabad ABWA hospital, in Lahore held series of meetings with PBIT, Planning and Development Chairman, visits to hospital PKLI and Pharmaceutical (Ferozson). In Karachi visits, to Indus hospital, Link Technologies and attended a Wedding reception of a wealthy businessman which was attended by prominent business leaders.

Welcoming the Governor, the High Commissioner commended him for his contribution towards the economic turnaround of the country, as he remained an important member of the economic team of the government. He also underlined the trade and economic opportunities for Pakistan in the post-Brexit UK—a country Pakistan enjoys excellent and multi-faceted bilateral relations with.

  1. 29 November 2017 – Quaid’s Bust unveiled at the British Museum; installed at the Lincoln’s Inn

The High Commission for Pakistan, London paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation, Quaid -i- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah by installing his Bust at his alma mater, the prestigious Lincoln’s Inn. The Bust was unveiled at the historic British Museum in a dignified ceremony on 28 November 2017. This was the grand finale of the year-long celebrations organized by the Pakistan High Commission London to mark the 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan. Mayor of London Sadiq Khan who was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, unveiled the Bust at the China & South Asia Gallery of the British Museum. A large number of people from all walks of life were in attendance on this occasion.

Welcoming the Parliamentarians, H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, the High Commissioner said that Balochistan is on the path of development especially after the initiation of the CPEC projects in the province. The High Commissioner stated that the whole of Pakistan and the entire region stand to benefit from up-gradation of Gwadar deep sea port.

At the Pakistan High Commission London, on 22 September 2017, where an MoU was signed between the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) for enhancing business and trade ties. The event was attended by CEOs and Directors of leading Pakistani and British companies, with representation from FPCCI, PBBC, London Chamber, Mayor of London office, London Stock Exchange, Standard Chartered, Marks & Spencer,Debenhams, UK Department of International Trade (DIT), UBL and HBL.

  1. 10th September Healthcare Conference London (CM, PHC)

Punjab Healthcare Sector Roadshow was held in London on 10 September 2017. The event was organized by the Government of Punjab in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission London. Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired the event. In his address on the occasion, the Chief Minister gave a detailed overview of the reforms to a wide range of British healthcare companies with a view

to seeking their feedback for further refinement of the service delivery in the healthcare sector. He shared with the British medical fraternity that the Punjab Government was planning to outsource major non-clinical services of hospitals to private partners. Mr. Shehbaz Sharif shared his Government’s initiative of introducing his new model of hospital administration through complete management out sourcing of newly established hospitals.

PBBC requested to support the Healthcare Conference and discussed wider trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan, Punjab in particular.

The Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) and its sister company Pakistan Scotland Business Council (PSBC) in collaboration with the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) signed a Memorandum of Un-derstanding (MoU) to strengthen the links between the three organisations at a Networking Reception hosted and supported by the Pakistan High Com-mission London. The event was well represented by all main stakeholders including FPCCI, PBBC, LCCI, FCO, DIT, and Mayor of London office, besides several main stream British business houses.

The purpose of the collaboration is to promote and strengthen the development of economic and trade relations and cooperation between the member companies of each organization in the United Kingdom and countries.

  1. 25 June 2017 – Eid Celebrations at the Residence of the Pakistan High Commissioner

H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, hosted Eid-ul-Fitr Open House at his official residence, “Pakistan House” in London on 25 June 2017, to celebrate the auspicious occasion with the Pakistani community in the UK and friends of Pakistan in the British society. The guests included Mayors, Ambassadors/High Commissioners, Councillors, community leaders, prominent business persons, members of the Pakistani and British society, representatives of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), and Department for International Development (DFID), officers from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, officials of the High Commission as well as their families and media representatives.

PBBC signed an MOU with PBIT and separately with PUKBC, met with Sindh Government (TDAP, Planning and Development Chairman), Punjab Government particularly CM of Punjab,

The Seminar and the Expo was specially designed to encourage effective interaction of the interested parties through direct meetings (i.e., B2B, B2G) on the sidelines so as to target highest possible materiality for all. Such direct meetings was fully supported and facilitated by the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT’s) team through the pre-event interactions and matchmaking between the willing parties and their local partners in order to enable them to substantiate their efforts through signing of agreement(s)/MOU(s) during the course of the event.

ISBOP focused on CPEC and Pak-China collaboration which is pivotal to the overall industrial and infrastructural growth in the country, especially in the Punjab. Inspired by the pace of development under the CPEC and the anticipated magnitude of expansion in the economy in its next phase; immense investment and trade opportunities are on the offering to investors across several economic and social sectors, especially in the areas of agriculture, energy, manufacturing, mines and minerals, civic services, health, education and tourism.

With a great success against the menace of terrorism and resolution of the energy crisis, the Government of Punjab is fully geared towards attracting investment, both from its local and foreign partners, by offering good governance, transparency, liberal and progressive provincial policies and regulatory reforms.

Hosted by the Pakistan High Commission London, at Carlton Tower Hotel, to commemorate the 77th Pakistan Day. Mr. Owen Jenkins, Special Representative of the British Prime Minister was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

  1. 8 March 2017 – A high-level UK Trade Partnerships conference at Chelsea FC

The conference entitled Pakistan as a Digital Powerhouse will focus on senior business collaborations between Pakistan and the UK, particularly within the Digital & IT sector.

Panel Addresses, Executive Discussions and Keynote Speeches will present case studies, address the current business climate and infrastructure, and identify market opportunities.
